Change Management Consultant (Tech/AI Adoption & Enablement) – Yellow Pebble
Location: US-Based (Hybrid, New York City)
Timezone: Must be available during ET business hours
Engagement: Freelance / Per-Project
Experience: 8 Years in Organizational Change, Learning & Development, or Technology Adoption
About Yellow Pebble
Yellow Pebble is a New York–based strategic marketing and AI-enablement firm that helps B2B technology companies sharpen their positioning, simplify their story, and accelerate US growth. We specialize in helping mid-market and enterprise organizations not just implement AI/tech platforms, but actually get their people to use them.
Role Overview
We’re hiring a Change Management Consultant to lead the human side of AI/tech adoption for our clients. While technology teams focus on implementation, you’ll focus on the people, designing and executing change programs that drive user activation, sustained adoption, and behavioral transformation.
You’ll work directly with clients to diagnose organizational readiness gaps, design tailored enablement programs, and coach leaders through resistance, skepticism, and adoption friction. This isn’t about training decks—it’s about culture shift, stakeholder alignment, and making AI tools stick.
This is a flexible, project-based freelance role with the potential for ongoing work as we scale our AI adoption practice.
Responsibilities
Organizational Readiness & Diagnosis
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, surveys, and readiness assessments to identify adoption barriers, cultural resistance, and capability gaps
- Map organizational dynamics; power structures, change champions, blockers, and influence networks
- Diagnose root causes of low adoption: lack of trust, unclear value proposition, skill gaps, workflow misalignment, leadership buy-in issues
Change Strategy & Program Design
- Design phased change management programs tailored to client culture, maturity, and AI use cases
- Build stakeholder engagement plans that align C-suite sponsors, middle management, end users, and IT teams
- Create adoption frameworks that connect AI tool capabilities to role-based workflows and business outcomes
- Define success metrics and adoption KPIs: activation rates, usage depth, time-to-value, sentiment tracking
Enablement & Communication
- Develop change narratives that reframe AI from “threat” to “tool”: addressing fears around job displacement, skill obsolescence, and loss of control
- Design communication campaigns: launch sequences, internal storytelling, FAQs, and ongoing reinforcement content
- Build role-based enablement assets: workflow guides, use case playbooks, quick-start resources, and peer success stories
- Coordinate with internal Yellow Pebble content teams to produce engaging, human-centered materials
Training & Capability Building
- Design and deliver (or oversee) training programs that go beyond features—focus on behavior change, mindset shifts, and practical application
- Build train-the-trainer programs to scale adoption through internal champions
- Create feedback loops and office hours to support real-time problem-solving and continuous learning
Leadership Coaching & Activation
- Coach senior leaders on how to sponsor change effectively, messaging, modeling behavior, addressing resistance
- Facilitate executive alignment sessions to ensure consistent vision and resolve conflicting priorities
- Equip managers with tools to support their teams through transition: 1:1 conversation guides, team workshop templates, recognition frameworks
Adoption Monitoring & Iteration
- Track adoption metrics, user sentiment, and engagement patterns across rollout phases
- Conduct post-launch pulse checks, focus groups, and feedback sessions
- Identify stall points and design targeted interventions, re-engagement campaigns, advanced training, workflow optimization
- Provide clients with adoption dashboards and executive readouts
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- 8 years in organizational change management, learning & development, technology adoption, or internal communications
- Direct experience leading change programs for AI, automation, or enterprise software implementations (required)
- Proven track record helping organizations navigate resistance, drive behavior change, and sustain new ways of working
- Experience working with mid-market to enterprise B2B organizations across multiple industries
Skills & Approach
- Deep understanding of adult learning principles, behavior change psychology, and adoption frameworks (ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci, etc.)
- Ability to diagnose cultural and organizational dynamics quickly; you read rooms, identify unspoken concerns, and build trust fast
- Exceptional facilitation and coaching skills; you can run workshops, lead difficult conversations, and influence without authority
- Strong storytelling and communication skills: you make technical transformation feel human, relevant, and achievable
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and adapting programs based on real-time feedback
Tools & Methods
- Familiarity with change management methodologies (Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, Lewin) and how to adapt them for AI/tech adoption
- Experience designing surveys, stakeholder maps, RACI matrices, communication plans, and adoption dashboards
- Bonus: experience with learning platforms (LMS), adoption analytics tools, or community-building platforms
Logistics
- US-based and available during ET business hours
- Comfortable working across multiple client engagements simultaneously
- Able to work independently while collaborating with Yellow Pebble strategists, content creators, and client teams
What Success Looks Like
- Clients move from low/stalled adoption to sustained, organization-wide usage of AI platforms
- User sentiment shifts from skepticism and resistance to confidence and advocacy
- Leaders can articulate clear AI value propositions and champion adoption authentically
- Teams integrate AI tools into daily workflows, not as add-ons, but as essential productivity drivers
- Yellow Pebble becomes known for solving the “people problem” of AI adoption, not just the strategy problem
Why This Role Matters
Most AI implementations fail because of people, not technology. Tools get bought, dashboards go unused, pilots don’t scale. You’ll be the person who fixes that, helping organizations transform not just their tech stack, but their culture, mindset, and ways of working.
