YEI Engineers, Inc. is a well-established consulting engineering firm seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Oakland office. Our firm has provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services to public and private sector clients for over 50 years.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of a Principal Engineer, the mechanical engineer will:
- Prepare engineering calculations and documentation, including:
- Cooling and heating load calculations
- Title 24 documentation
- Energy analysis
- Life cycle cost analysis
- LEED analysis
- Develop AutoCAD and/or Revit drawings and specifications for:
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing systems
- Fire protection systems
- Site utilities
- Pumping systems
- Research data, specifications, and applications for standard mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate mechanical design documents with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, architectural, civil, structural, etc.).
- Assist in field investigations during design and construction phases.
- Prepare cost estimates and technical specifications.
- Review vendor prints and shop drawings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations.
- Perform engineering calculations and Title 24 documentation.
- Support project schedules and design goals through effective coordination.
- Provide technical assistance and direction to design personnel.
- Perform related engineering tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited U.S. college.
Coursework emphasis in HVAC, refrigeration, and environmental engineering preferred.
- Familiarity with:
AutoCAD
Revit MEP
Microsoft Excel and Word
Title 24 and applicable building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven engineering environment.
- Adaptability to work in a small company setting with diverse responsibilities.
- Ability to pass Federal and State security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) License
- E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) Certification
- LEED AP® Building Design Construction credential
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $75,000 – $125,000 annually (based on experience and credentials)
