What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Grade Teacher position at Yavneh Hebrew Academy?

We are currently recruiting for a new upper elementary teacher to join our outstanding faculty of educators for the next school year. You must have classroom teaching experience and the ability to develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. We require someone who incorporates technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment. You should be able to plan and implement our instructional program to promote students' active inquiry, discovery, and learning.
- Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on school standards in upper elementary general studies (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors
- Teach elementary classes to separate boys and girls groups with diverse learning profiles
- Maintain records of student progress
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction using a variety of proven methods
- Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject
- Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks or other assessment practices
- Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards, promoting positive interactions and actively teaching behavioral competencies as a skill to young children
- Actively supervising students at recess and lunch during assigned duties
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress, potential and behavior periodically through phone or electronic means and at parent and teacher conferences
- Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content to students
- Maintain a Google classroom and regularly update and post to class modules on the school information system
- Bachelor’s degree in education or teaching
- At least 2 years of upper elementary teaching experience (grades K-3)
- Strong classroom management skills and experience building digital presentations
- Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental subjects and content standards in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science for upper elementary grades
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to relate to young students
- Promote each student's motivation, work habits, and growth mindset
- Adapt materials and methods to meet students' varying readiness, interests, and learning profiles
- Valid California teaching certificate
- Master's Degree in teaching
- Comfort in a team environment
- Experience working with impacted students with learning differences
