What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Grade Teacher position at Maimonides Academy?
First Grade Teacher:
We are excited to welcome an experienced Lead 1st Grade Teacher to the Maimonides family.
If your classroom is full of energy, clear routines, laughter, and real learning, we would love to meet you.
At our school, first grade truly matters. It’s where readers are built, confidence takes off, and students begin to see themselves as capable learners. We take this work seriously, and we make the classroom a place where students and teachers genuinely enjoy being.
We’re looking for a strong, confident teacher who knows how to run a tight, joyful classroom and wants to be part of a team that works closely together. We are a well-oiled machine, but we are always looking for someone who brings ideas, takes initiative, and is excited to help push a classroom and a team forward.
You’ll have a full-time associate teacher in your room, not as extra help, but as a true partner. You’ll plan together, make decisions together, and lead together. The best fit is someone who enjoys bouncing ideas, refining practice, and steering the ship with another strong educator by their side.
What matters to us:
- 3–5 years of lead, full-time elementary teaching experience (preferably in 1st or 2nd grade)
- A valid multi-subject teaching credential (out-of-state credentials accepted; 30-day substitute permits do not qualify)
- Strong classroom management, you know how to set the tone from day one
- Solid early literacy and math instruction
- You collaborate well
- You’re organized, consistent, and communicate clearly
- A team that has your back
- Teacher and students who are excited to be here
- Leadership that is supportive
