Thrift Store Associate

Position Summary:

The Thrift Store Associate supports the daily operations of the thrift store by assisting of accepting donations, sorting and pricing donated goods, putting priced items on the store floor, cashiering, answering the phone and providing excellent customer service, and participating in community events as assigned. This position plays an important role in supporting the organization’s mission through responsible handling of donated items and positive community engagement. Duties and job assignments vary daily depending on that day’s store activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet and provide friendly and helpful service to customers and donors with professionalism and appreciation.
• Sort donations according to category and quality standards.
• Discard or recycle unsellable items following YHS guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized facility.
• Price items according to YHS guidelines.
• Have knowledge of brand names and vintage items- focus on clothes.
• Prepare and stock merchandise on the sales floor in an appealing and organized manner including rotating merchandise following YHS policy.
• Operate the cash register accurately, process sales transactions, and handle cash and credit payments.
• Answer store phone
• Follow safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Participate in YHS community events.
• Regular and punctual attendance is required and is an essential function of this job.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager and Assistant Manager

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous retail and cashier experience- Thrift Store experience preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and mission-driven.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
• Work environment will include outdoor and indoor work including working in weather conditions.
• Weekend and holiday availability
• Able to work in a team environment and flexibility in daily job assignments.
