Tool Grinding Technician(DECHERD)
Yates Services is seeking a skilled Tool Grinding Technician with 3 years of experience setting up and operating manual and/or CNC grinding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for grinding cutting tools to print specifications while maintaining required tolerances, surface finishes, and production schedules. While previous tool grinding experience is preferred, training may be considered for highly motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a proven work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding equipment.
- Grind tools to blueprint specifications while maintaining close tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Edit and adjust grinding programs as needed and accurately document all program changes.
- Monitor and record production rates, job status, and labor time using computer-based systems.
- Operate multiple CNC machines as production demands require.
- Support additional tool room activities and responsibilities as assigned.
- Inspect finished tools to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience with manual and/or CNC grinding equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong math, measurement, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems for job tracking, production reporting, and documentation.
- Experience editing CNC grinding programs is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet daily production deadlines.
- Adaptable to changing priorities and production requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work any shift, including overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
