About Yard Boss

Yard Boss is a locally owned property care company preparing to introduce comprehensive, year-round residential property maintenance programs in 2027.

Our business model is built around simplifying property care. Rather than requiring homeowners to coordinate multiple service providers for mowing, fertilization, weed control, seasonal cleanups, and other property maintenance needs, Yard Boss aims to provide one trusted point of contact, coordinated service delivery, and predictable monthly payments.

As we prepare for our next phase of growth, we're looking for an experienced turf care and pest control professional interested in helping establish and lead a specialized service division.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional applicator position.

We're seeking an entrepreneurial, technically knowledgeable professional who wants to help build Yard Boss's Turf & Pest Services division from the ground up.

The right candidate will play an important role in developing our fertilization, weed control, and turf treatment programs, establishing safe and efficient operations, acquiring customers, and growing the division into a profitable, scalable part of the business.

As demand increases, the opportunity is intended to evolve from hands-on technical and business development responsibilities into a leadership position overseeing technicians, service quality, customer growth, and divisional performance.

We recognize that the right person may currently be employed elsewhere. For that reason, we're open to an initially flexible, part-time arrangement that allows us to establish the program thoughtfully and expand responsibilities as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Technical Expertise

  • Design and implement residential fertilization, weed control, and turf treatment programs appropriate for Central Arkansas.
  • Develop seasonal application schedules, service standards, operating procedures, and quality controls.
  • Identify equipment, materials, supplier relationships, and other resources required for efficient service delivery.
  • Help establish competitive pricing, treatment packages, and service offerings.
  • Ensure applicable licensing, regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements are met before regulated services begin.
  • Identify future opportunities to expand into mosquito control and other related treatment services.

Customer Acquisition & Business Development

  • Actively identify and pursue opportunities to grow the Turf & Pest Services customer base.
  • Build relationships with residential customers, referral partners, and potential commercial accounts.
  • Conduct customer consultations, recommend appropriate services, prepare proposals, and close new business.
  • Collaborate with Yard Boss leadership and marketing resources to support customer acquisition campaigns.
  • Help develop strategies that encourage recurring service agreements, customer retention, and long-term growth.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform or oversee treatment applications consistent with applicable qualifications and licensing.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, customer satisfaction, service quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Track service-line performance, including customer growth, revenue, direct costs, and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing, productivity, resource utilization, and service consistency.
  • Establish repeatable processes that support sustainable growth without compromising quality or safety.

Future Leadership & Team Development

  • Assess staffing and equipment needs as customer demand increases.
  • Help recruit, train, and develop qualified technicians.
  • Establish technician performance expectations, training standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Transition into managing team performance, service capacity, and divisional operations as the business grows.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy and expansion of the Turf & Pest Services division.

Qualifications

Required

  • Professional experience in turf fertilization, weed control, pesticide application, or closely related services.
  • Strong understanding of turf health, treatment practices, application safety, and service quality.
  • Ability to meet applicable Arkansas licensing and certification requirements for assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and help develop operational processes.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Interest in business development and building a recurring customer base.
  • Commitment to safe, ethical, and high-quality service delivery.

Preferred

  • Current Arkansas commercial applicator certification or other applicable credentials.
  • Experience managing treatment routes, customers, or field-service operations.
  • Experience in sales, estimating, customer acquisition, or account development.
  • Familiarity with treatment pricing, material costs, and operational profitability.
  • Experience training or supervising technicians.
  • Interest in eventually leading a growing business division.

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

Yard Boss is an early-stage business, and we're intentionally developing a compensation model that rewards meaningful contributions, individual initiative, and sustainable business performance.

Rather than offering a traditional full-time salaried position immediately, we envision a phased arrangement that may include:

  • Initial Development Compensation: Negotiated compensation for approved program-development activities and defined operational responsibilities.
  • Customer Acquisition Incentives: Commission opportunities tied to personally acquired customers and eligible collected revenue.
  • Performance-Based Bonuses: Additional earning opportunities tied to divisional financial performance, customer retention, operational efficiency, and service quality.
  • Long-Term Profit Participation: Potential eligibility for a contractual profit-sharing or phantom-equity-style incentive arrangement as the division reaches established performance milestones.
  • Leadership Advancement: Opportunity to transition into a full-time management or director-level position as recurring revenue and operational demand support expansion.

Specific compensation terms, hours, performance measures, and milestones will be discussed with qualified candidates and agreed upon before work begins.

Long-term profit participation and leadership advancement are potential opportunities, not guaranteed compensation or ownership interests.

Schedule & Initial Engagement

This opportunity is expected to begin on a flexible, part-time basis.

Initial responsibilities will focus on helping develop the treatment division in preparation for the 2027 service season. The scope, schedule, and compensation for this phase will be established collaboratively based on business needs and candidate availability.

As services launch and customer demand grows, operational responsibilities and working hours may increase.

Our goal is to establish a mutually beneficial working relationship with someone interested in contributing to the division's long-term success.

Who Would Thrive in This Opportunity?

This opportunity may be particularly appealing to an experienced applicator, route supervisor, or turf care professional who:

  • Has strong technical expertise but wants greater autonomy and decision-making responsibility.
  • Enjoys building customer relationships and developing new business.
  • Is motivated by measurable results and performance-based earning opportunities.
  • Wants to help design and grow a service operation rather than simply follow an established route.
  • Sees long-term value in developing into a leadership role as the business expands.

We're looking for someone who brings both technical credibility and an entrepreneurial mindset.
