What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supported Housing Specialist position at Yamhill County?
Yamhill County has one regular full-time position for a Supported Housing Specialist (HS Specialist I) to work with individuals with serious mental illness or co-occurring mental health and addictions challenges who reside in our crisis respite or supported housing programs. Responsibilities include providing supportive counseling, individual and group skills training, some case management and coordination with treatment team providers, medication monitoring and training, charting, and documentation.
This position is required to work a shift that includes weekends, and at times Holidays.

The Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- At least one year of experience in a setting relevant to the duties and skills.
- Appropriate combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree.
- Must have an NPI number or be able to obtain one upon employment.
- Must also meet QMHA requirements per State Medicaid rule and have the ability to obtain certification as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) upon hire.
Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon, and an acceptable driving record.
Successful completion of a background check is also required.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be dependable, organized, self-directed, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to interact with co-workers, clients, and the public in a courteous, professional manner. The ability to prioritize a variety of competing responsibilities in a professional manner is critical, as is experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, trauma, and substance abuse. Knowledge of psychiatric medications and experience working with MAR’s (Medication Administration Records) is desirable. Must have excellent personal boundaries, organizational skills, and the ability to adhere to strict timelines. May be required to drive a County vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle on County business are required to carry a valid driver’s license and liability insurance minimums as outlined in ORS 806.070.
