Position Summary

The Sanitation- Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring food manufacturing companies adhere to state sanitation protocols, implement company cleaning policies, perform daily sanitation inspections, and oversee the duties of cleaning personnel.

In addition, they will guarantee that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. In a fast-paced production environment, the supervisor is an integral part of the manufacturing process. They must be competent and comprehend complex operations. You should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs. The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner and free of any safety risk.

General Duties:

  • Establish priorities in accordance with given guidance and direction in areas that require attention.

  • Establish and maintain acceptable work practices among employees.

  • Ensures the execution of maximum practices set forth by the Area-Production Manager or Production Manager to ensure maximum efficiency, timely production, and quality of goods produced.

  • Works closely with employees in the assigned department to improve productivity.

  • Provide suggestions regarding staffing needs, equipment, and materials needed to meet production demand and sanitation goals.

  • Participate in the Fiscal Year End Inventory count.

 

Sanitation Responsibilities:

  • Develops a partnership with quality, operations, and maintenance to meet the company’s objectives.

  • Understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing and packaging equipment SSOP’s, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure.

  • Coordinate, assign, and schedule the activities of employees responsible for sanitizing food-processing equipment, processing areas, and general housekeeping of the premises.

  • Update, implement, and enforce the Master Sanitation/Cleaning Schedule to ensure compliance with regulatory and the company’s standards.

  • Develop and update the SSOP to address food safety practices and streamline general sanitation practices.

  • Responsible for verification and recordkeeping, and update of all sanitation documentations, including Sanitation Signoff Logs, Work Order assignments, MSDS, and Training Records.

  • Provide the cleaning crew with work assignments, schedules, training, feedback, coaching, support, and development opportunities.

  • Maintain the cleaning storage room, including chemicals, cleaning tools, and be organized and clean.

  • Add specified amounts of chemicals to the equipment at required times to maintain solution levels and concentrations.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assure employees are always treated in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Meet with department personnel on areas needing enhancement or modification.

  • Provide daily feedback to employees on their performance and formally through written performance evaluations. Be involved regarding disciplining employees.

  • Establish and maintain acceptable work practices among employees.

  • Ensure employees follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Communicates departmental goals and objectives on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to assigned department employees.  These goals will include production-related goals such as output, safety, etc.

  • Covers/back up of the Senior Supervisor when needed.

  • Participates in the recruitment, orientation, training, and coaching of employees.

  • Be readily available to workers to answer/address questions/concerns respectively.

  • Demonstrate excellent quality service for internal customers, which should be proactive, personalized, convenient and competent.

Qualifications:

General Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines given by the Area-Production Manager.

  • Be able to accurately complete quality control forms and use a calculator to assist in the tabulation of the product.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the Yamamotoyama safety rules.

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems and practices related to food hygiene, sanitation, SSOPs, and GMPs. 

  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and production execution principles

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (X3) Systems and MS Office.

  • Communicates (verbally and written) with a high level of professionalism. 

  • Identify and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.

  • Personnel leadership management.

  • Highly motivated person who is able to multi-task and handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast-changing environment. 

  • Self-motivated and passionate individual, who has a high sense of urgency, thrives with a wide variety of work, and can deliver consistent results on multiple priorities.

  • Ability to plan and organize assignments. 

  • Manufacturing experience is required with general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment.

  • Ability to be an independent thinker and find solutions to problems.    

  • Team-oriented with good people and customer service skills. 

  • Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred but not required.  

  • Strong oral and written communication. Well-developed interpersonal skills in communication and team dynamics.

  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills

 

Working Conditions

  • Warehouse environment: due to materials used, there is exposure to dusty materials; utilization of standard warehouse equipment which includes forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
  • As needed, employees must be able to use both hands to properly inspect and pack finished goods. Usage of hands will be constant.
  • Up to 2 hours of continuous hand use may be required; the employee will then take mandatory work breaks and resume duties as a packer after the break requirement is fulfilled.
  • Employees will be required to frequently bend and stoop to properly stack finished goods onto pallets. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

:The hourly pay rate for this full-time position is $30.00 -  $35.00. Additionally, this position is eligible for overtime pay in line with state and local laws. Our pay ranges are guided by the discipline, level, and experience required. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including your specific location, desired skills/technical competency, relevant experience, and advanced education/training.
