Position Overview
· Job Title: CNC Technician
· Department: Tooling & Die Shop 1st shift 6am-2:30pm
· Reports To: CNC/EDM Team Leader
· Position Summary: Proficiently program, set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling machinery to repair and prepare high-precision fine blanking dies for manufacturing production
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production & Operations
· Machining & Setup: Program, set up, and operate CNC equipment and manual milling machines to fabricate and repair complex tooling components
· Die Management: Monitor fine blanking dies throughout their production lifecycles, tracking wear patterns and offering engineering feedback on die design optimizations
· Inventory Control: Track and maintain accurate inventory levels for shop tooling, inserts, and equipment spare parts
· Multi-Machine Operation: Efficiently run and monitor multiple machines simultaneously during high-volume production cycles
Maintenance, Documentation & Safety
· Preventive Maintenance: Execute routine cleaning protocols and collaborate with the central maintenance department on machine-specific preventive maintenance
· Technical Documentation: Maintain precise repair logs, tool tracking sheets, and machine maintenance documentation
· Continuous Improvement: Proactively analyze machining bottlenecks and submit recommendations to enhance safety, quality, and shop efficiency
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
· Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
· Certification: One-year machine shop certificate or equivalent professional experience
· Blueprint Literacy: Advanced ability to read and interpret industrial blueprints and technical drawings
· Metrology: Strong math skills and hands-on experience using metric measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial gauges)
· Software: Foundational knowledge of 3D CAD/CAM software for fundamental programming
Preferred Advanced Qualifications
· Experience: 5 years of specialized experience in a precision machine shop or tool-and-die manufacturing environment
· Advanced CAD/CAM: Advanced proficiency in CNC programming and 3D modeling utilizing SolidWorks Design
· Education: Completion of advanced technical-level manufacturing coursework
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
· Environment: Active manufacturing plant environment with exposure to high noise levels, coolants, industrial chemicals, and sharp metal materials
· Physical Stamina: Required to stand for extended shifts on hard surfaces
· Physical Demands: Regular stooping, bending, and heavy lifting of objects weighing up to 100 lbs
· PPE: Strict adherence to all company safety protocols and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
