Reports to: Site Director
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and promote required policies and procedures to ensure environmental, healthy, and safe work practices, and to avoid exposure to risk.
- Advise the corporate on the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) systems efficiency and put out statistics for performance vs set targets.
- Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety legislation including completion of all necessary inspections and reports by coordinating with the Safety Committee.
- Lead training sessions to educate employees, including senior management of their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Acts and Regulations.
- Take proactive measures and exercise on-going follow up on all inspections, training, and reports.
- Coordinate and manage all processes and legislated requirements related to OSHA and US EPA including the Return-to-Work Program, modified work, investigations, and monthly reporting.
- Maintain all necessary documentation such as hazard assessments and reports, training records, manuals etc. to ensure compliance to all legislated requirements.
- Oversee the incident reporting process and ensure timely investigations, root cause analysis, and appropriate follow up on all reports.
- Coordinate with department managers to assist with development of specific policies, procedures, job standards and programs that promote environmental, healthy, and safe work practices.
- Develop, maintain, and promote wellness within the workplace.
- Work with the Project Managers and area owners to administer the contractor management program.
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A university degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is required.
- 5-6 years experience in EHS related position is required.
- Experience in Claims Management is required.
- Prior experience in Food Manufacturing industry is a strong asset.
- Strong communicator and proven ability to be a mentor.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional) designation, or equivalent is a strong asset.
- Strong hazard recognition skills and analytical skills.
Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
