Lee County Community Development is looking for an organized and motivated Entry-Level Zoning Technician to complete entry level technical work that supports the Zoning Section's primary functions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping customers, learning new skills, and being part of a team that shapes how our community grows. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, possess excellent customer service skills, and have a desire to learn and grow.
In this role, you will work with property owners, applicants, consultants, and County staff to review zoning requests and answer questions about land use and development in unincorporated Lee County. You will receive training, guidance, and mentorship to grow your career while making a real impact.
The Zoning Section is responsible for reviewing development applications for consistency with the regulations of the Lee County Land Development Code (LDC). The Zoning Section reviews public hearing applications for rezonings, special exceptions, and variances, reviews administrative zoning requests, and completes requests for zoning verification. The Zoning Section also manages the County's Historic Preservation Program, assists in updating the Land Development Code, and assists the County's customer base to code achieve code compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do
As a Zoning Technician, you will:
- Review and complete zoning verification requests
- Review requests for administrative zoning approval for compliance with County regulations
- Provide friendly and accurate customer service in person, by phone, and by email
- Research zoning, land use, and development information to help customers
- Research and analyze professional documents related to zoning and community development
- Work closely with other build positive working relationships
- Assist team members with projects and daily tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Licensing
Required
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- One year of experience in a fast-paced or high-volume customer service role
- One year of experience in permitting, zoning, land use, or a related field
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Attention to detail and organization
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to work well with others
