Description

The Lee County Library System is hiring a Manager of Events, Programs, and Partnerships.

The Manager of Events, Programs, and Partnerships helps the library reach more people through innovative programs, signature events, and strong community partnerships. This role provides system-wide leadership, works closely with Library Administration, and guides a team of four who support outreach and program development. The manager also grows resources through sponsorships and evaluates results to support continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Programming and Event Planning

  • Lead planning and coordination of major library events and festivals
  • Set priorities and guidelines for consistent, high-quality programs across branches
  • Support staff as they plan and evaluate programs and events
  • Coordinate large programs that involve multiple branches or departments
  • Review and approve program content for marketing and public use

Partnerships and Community Relations

  • Serve as the main contact for the Friends of the Library groups
  • Build partnerships with schools, nonprofits, cultural groups, and local agencies
  • Represent the library at community events and outreach activities
  • Work with partners to develop programs that meet community needs

Resource Development

  • Identify possible partners, sponsors, and grant opportunities
  • Help prepare funding applications and required reports
  • Work with leadership to expand resources to support programming

Department Leadership

  • Lead programming and outreach services across the library system
  • Supervise managers and staff and support their planning and coordination work
  • Set priorities, standards, and best practices for library programs
  • Work with leadership on strategic goals and system initiatives
  • Coordinate with departments such as Communications for marketing and patron engagement
  • Review results and support continuous improvement of programs and services

Evaluation and Administration

  • Collect and review program data, attendance numbers, and feedback
  • Prepare reports that show program results and community impact
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and supply purchases for programming

Education, Experience, Licensing

Minimum Requirements

What We're Looking For

Requires Any Combination Of Education And Experience Equivalent To

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field AND
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Communications, marketing, or public relations
    • Library services, community engagement, or public-facing program coordination
    • Supervising staff or leading project teams
    • Developing and implementing marketing or communication strategies
    • Producing digital content, social media, or multimedia materials
    • Managing media relations, branding, or crisis communications
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required
Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited graduate library school program
  • Five (5) years of experience in event programming/coordinating, public relations, or community outreach
  • Four (4) years of supervisory experience

Extra Skills

  • Knowledge of the needs and interests of people of different ages and backgrounds
  • Knowledge of library budgeting and basic financial practices
  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate staff
  • Ability to learn and use library technology and help patrons use it
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including children, teens, seniors, and people who speak other languages
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Employees may be temporarily or permanently assigned to another branch based on the needs of the library

Supplemental Information

Work Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly, hours and days will vary to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.

Lee County employees eligible to participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) are required to contribute 3% of each paycheck to FRS. If you have retired from the Florida Retirement Pension plan you will not be eligible for renewed membership in either of the FRS retirement plan options. Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
