Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and traditional models, to recover vehicles from accident scenes, breakdowns, or illegal parking situations
- Load, unload, and secure vehicles using appropriate equipment such as winches, hooks, and straps while adhering to safety protocols
- Conduct basic automotive diagnostics to assess vehicle condition and determine the best recovery method
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients during roadside assistance or vehicle recovery processes
- Maintain accurate logs of all recoveries, loads, unloads, and service calls for reporting and record-keeping purposes
- Assist with automotive repairs or mechanical troubleshooting when necessary to facilitate vehicle recovery or transport
- Manage conflict situations professionally when dealing with distressed customers or challenging scenarios
Experience
- Proven experience operating tow trucks or similar commercial driving vehicles such as flatbeds or heavy-duty trucks
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair and diagnostics
- Familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive systems is highly desirable
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory
- Experience with automotive tools such as forklifts or other lifting equipment is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills combined with conflict management abilities to handle tense situations effectively
- Prior mechanic experience or automotive diagnostics expertise will enhance your ability to troubleshoot efficiently
