Materials Buyer and Planner

We’re looking for a Buyer Planner to develop internal materials planning capability and support the transition from an R&D environment to a repeatable production process. You will own critical vendor relationships and support the development of efficient digital systems to ensure reliability and predictability with production materials ordering and tracking.

This is a hands-on, process and company building role, working alongside many team members from the engineering, operational and finance functions. You will provide critical thought leadership, hands on work and functional knowledge to assist with scaling Xona’s production efforts.

What You’ll Do

• Manage all production material ordering, working closely with the Engineering and Operations team members.
• Create Purchase Orders, handle order scope changes, communicate with suppliers and ensure on time delivery.
• Plan and track materials ordering to support effective, efficient and on time delivery of complex spacecraft hardware products.
• Support supplier evaluation/vetting/selection/relationship management & monitoring for critical components and sub-systems, ensuring efficiency, repeatability, scalability and quality of supply.
• Monitor inventory levels to support both the program and production build requirements. Work with the Finance function to accurately account for and manage inventory in an appropriate warehouse and stocking framework.
• Develop kitting methods to support efficient assembly stage material releases, in a configuration-controlled and cost-efficient manner.
• Actively coordinate with suppliers, internal team members and management to ensure smooth production and assembly operations and meet schedule requirements.
  
  

You Might be a Fit If

• You have experience in higher volume production environments in a complex, Aerospace, Space or Defense business, with end item production rates greater than 2/week
• You’re comfortable in an environment where plans and processes are being developed and iterated in response to customer or market forces. You are able to take this in your stride, maintain progress and adapt to changes quickly and effectively
• You are experienced as a buyer planner and want to help develop a later-stage startup company scale into an efficient scale producer of complex satellite hardware systems.
• You thrive in an environment where you are both building processes and systems and at the same time able to execute on the immediate material planning and purchasing needs.
  
  

Requirements

• Full-time,?onsite in Burlingame, California?(this role is not remote or hybrid)?
• To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a?U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e. Green Card holder), or other protected individual?as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)?
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with rate production of a spacecraft, satellite or complex spacecraft sub-assemblies.
• Candidate holds an APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP).
• Experience ordering and planning materials without an ERP system, using basic spreadsheet tools.
• Conversely also has substantial experience using multiple ERP systems, specifically material requirements planning processes, purchase order management, cost and budget tracking and materials management.
• Career experience working both with and without a Quality Management System (QMS) such as AS9100.
  
  

Salary Description

Range for base salary: $100,000 -$150,000
