About the Role
The Account Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the billing processes for patient accounts. This role involves ensuring the accurate submission of claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding, insurance procedures, and billing systems, as well as excellent communication skills. This position will be located at our offices in Westlake Village, CA.
How you will make an impact:
In this role, you’ll:
- Follow up with Insurance companies, HMO & PPO, Worker’s Comp, and Government payors on denied medical claims
- Check medical claims status on payor websites and Clearing Houses
- Use phone & email communication with payors as needed
- Develop contact with insurance companies, review online capabilities & communicate any updates to Account Manager
- Update insurance information, patient demographics, missing information & document all communication in patient account notes
- Prep payor and patient correspondence and EOB’s to be worked
- Ensure medical claims appeals are completed accurately and timely
- Stay informed on changes pertaining to insurance companies & plans, contract terms & changes
- Handle paper billing, mailing, and special arrangement documentation
- Meet daily KPI’s, work appropriate queues, and assist in working backlog in medical claims
- Assist with audits and special projects.

Skills and experience you have:
You don’t need to check every box. We will consider a combination of education and experience, including:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in radiology or diagnostic imaging.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite & ability to navigate multiple software programs.
- Familiarity with terminology in medical billing.
- Familiarity with billing software, clearing house platforms and EMRs (XiFin, Imagine, TriZetto, Availity, EPIC, etc.).

Pay Transparency
At XiFin, we believe in pay transparency and fairness. The expected hourly rate for this role is $20.00 to $24.00, based on your experience, skills, and geographic location.
Depending on your qualifications, you may be considered for either a Specialist or Sr. Specialist title. Final compensation will be determined during the selection process and may vary accordingly.
