Duties
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across multiple units, including medical-surgical, ICU, emergency medicine, and long-term care settings.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic techniques and medical documentation standards.
- Manage complex procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, wound suturing, ventilator management, and tube feeding.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Epic to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, trauma medicine, hospice & palliative care, and behavioral health needs.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and basic laboratory testing to support clinical decisions.
- Respond swiftly to acute emergencies using critical care response procedures; manage airway issues and acute pain with expert precision.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or memory care needs through specialized approaches aligned with NCQA standards.
- Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all patient interactions to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a registered nurse in diverse settings such as hospital medicine, ICU (Level I & II Trauma Center experience), emergency room, or post-acute care environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation.
- Critical care experience including ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, trauma medicine, or neonatal resuscitation procedures is highly valued.
- Experience providing specialized care such as dialysis support, ostomy care, gastrostomy management, or ostomy care is preferred.
- Knowledge of occupational health protocols, infectious disease management, pain management strategies, and hospice & palliative medicine practices.
- Background working with individuals with disabilities or complex chronic conditions in settings like assisted living or nursing homes enhances your suitability for this role.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology to support accurate patient assessments and interventions.
