Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Building Maintenance Worker to perform a wide range of maintenance, repair, and facility support tasks. This role involves working with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, mechanical repair, and general building upkeep. The position operates under general supervision and may provide guidance to other staff when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize daily tasks to meet operational and maintenance needs
- Operate a variety of hand tools and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, grinders, rodders)
- Identify and report maintenance issues; perform repairs as required
- Inspect electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and replace defective parts
- Perform routine equipment repairs and general building maintenance
- Rewire outlets, breaker boxes, and replace light bulbs, ballasts, transformers, switches, and receptacles
- Repair doors, windows, flooring, drywall, woodwork, and other building structures
- Complete basic carpentry tasks such as installing bulletin boards, drywall, shelving, caulking, and minor roofing repairs
- Conduct grounds maintenance including mowing, planting, and general landscaping
- Perform minor HVAC tasks such as changing belts, filters, and motors
- Carry out plumbing repairs including unclogging fixtures, replacing drains, and fixing leaks
- Perform janitorial duties including mopping, buffing, power washing, and cleaning restrooms and common areas
- Carry out welding tasks as needed
- Execute preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of equipment and building systems
- Complete daily facility walk-throughs to identify maintenance needs
- Assist with inventory of tools, materials, and supplies
- Provide direction or oversight to others when required
- Communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, staff, and other building users
- Operate facility vehicles such as pick-up trucks, carts, or similar equipment
- Follow diagrams, manuals, and work orders to perform repairs
- Assist supervisors with material needs and maintenance planning
- Move and set up furniture, office setups, and event spaces
- Unload deliveries and restock maintenance supplies
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time tracking
- Use software systems to enter time worked and submit leave requests
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of full-time skilled labor or trades experience, including 2 years in building maintenance
- Valid driver’s license (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in any building maintenance trade (carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
