## About the role
You will own and elevate the site safety program—implementing, managing, and monitoring policies and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. This is an upgraded Safety Manager position with clear program ownership and leadership accountability. You will evaluate procedures, facilities, and equipment through inspections; identify unsafe conditions; and drive safeguards and lasting solutions. You will ensure the organization complies with current safety regulations and that employees understand and follow safety procedures.
## Key responsibilities
Lead and own site safety programs, policies, and continuous improvement
Conduct facility and equipment inspections; identify hazards; implement safeguards and corrective actions
Drive awareness of safety requirements and preparedness to follow procedures
Collect data and report on safety and accident events to senior management
Coordinate fire prevention and evacuation, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, and related safety practices relevant to manufacturing.
Provide signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of hazards and control access
Compile and submit accident reports required by senior management and regulatory agencies
Manage applicable programs as needed (e.g., respirator and hearing protection)
Partner with Human Resources on light-duty and transitional work to support return-to-work and workers’ compensation outcomes
Maintain safety files and records
Stay current through self-development, professional reading, and professional networks/organizations
## Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field
Relevant OSHA or other safety certifications preferred
Knowledge of state workers’ compensation systems helpful
5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment, including leadership and program ownership
Knowledge and experience with OSHA and other governmental/regulatory standards
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong analytical skills; independent judgment and initiative
Ability to interface effectively with senior management
Strong presentation skills (oral and written)
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influentially with stakeholders across the organization
## Work environment
On-site at the Monroe, MI area headquarters (daily presence; travel as business needs require)
Frequent presence on the manufacturing floor; stand/walk up to ~50% of the day
Lift up to ~15 lbs occasionally; computer and office work as needed
Overtime as needed
## Compensation
$120,000 or more base plus bonus
