Instruction Librarian
McDonald Library at Xavier University seeks applicants to fill the position of Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Educational Services, the enthusiastic and collaborative candidate for this full-time, exempt position is responsible for providing library research services, education, and instruction programs to support learning. The successful candidate provides course integrated instruction and library workshops; incorporates library information and learning objectives into syllabi, assignments, and courses in coordination with faculty, and develops and provides research help services. As a member of the professional library team, participates in Library and institutional committees, contributes to collection development, and serves as liaison to academic and University departments. Instruction Librarian

Job Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and delivers library instructional and information literacy content in support of courses
- Participates in assessment of instructional services to ensure student learning outcomes are achieved
- Creates asynchronous library research learning objects such as videos, tutorials, quizzes, handouts, worksheets
- Stays abreast of best practices in information literacy, instructional design, and educational technologies to integrate best practices into instruction
- Provides individual research support through in-person and online consultations
- Works with Head of Library Education Services to prioritize, coordinate, and publicize projects and initiatives focused on teaching research skills and critical thinking to students
- As a member of the professional librarian team, serves as a liaison to faculty in one or more academic departments, participates in collection development and programming for library initiatives and/or liaison departments and serves on internal and external committees
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program
- Demonstrated interest, education or experience in teaching and instructional design
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Experience with instructional technologies and content creation tools (e.g., Panopto, Canva, LibGuides)
- Familiarity with Canvas or a similar learning management system
- Knowledge of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
