Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Academic Support. The
Assistant Director will coordinate a comprehensive Peer Led Supplemental Instruction Program
with a focus on providing academic support for students enrolled in more rigorous collegiate
level coursework.
The Assistant Director is a member of the Office of Academic Support (OAS) and is also charged
with providing guidance and creating/implementing innovative approaches that are centered
on strengthening students' academic foundation and enhancing their success. AA/EOE
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university
• Two years of experience coordinating academic support services in higher education (i.e., tutoring, supplemental instruction)
• Experience recruiting, supervising, and training collegiate student workers
• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with students
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a highly collaborative environment
• Excellent oral, written communication skills
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of product
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in education, student personnel, or STEM related field from an
accredited college or university.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in academic support services, tutoring, and/or Supplemental
Instruction
Special Requirements Summary
Local and regional travel required.
Work Hours
Full time - Some evenings and weekends required.

• Provide oversight for operational activities of the SI Program
• Collaborate with Department Heads and faculty to identify SI courses
• Coordinate all SI course needs, meetings, and activities
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and train Supplemental Instruction Leaders
• Promote the SI program to the college community, including establishing and maintaining lines of communication between students, participating course instructors, and SI leaders.
• Work closely with the OAS team to coordinate additional academic support programs and initiatives to meet the needs of students- identify the problem & create marketing
• Coordinate promotional and marketing needs of the office
• Work with appropriate university offices (i.e., IRDS) to evaluate the effectiveness of academic support programs
• Other duties as assigned
