Job Summary
The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator provides community engagement and outreach activities for both the Louisiana Clinical and Translational (LACaTS) Center and the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education. The Coordinator works with community groups and health care providers. Additionally, the incumbent will coordinate the activities of the LACaTS’ New Orleans Community Advisory Board and provide support to the LACaTS’ personnel coordinating the Baton Rouge and Shreveport Community Advisory Boards. For the Center (CMHDRE) the coordinator facilitates collaboration with community organizations and coordinates the activities of both the External (Scientific) Advisory Board and the Community Advisory Board. The incumbent will coordinate internal and external meetings of the CMHDRE and the Community Engagement and Outreach Resource Core (CEOR) of LACaTS. The coordinator provides administrative support the Director of CMHDRE and the LACaTS’ CEOR. AA/EOE
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree (MPH or MHA) or equivalent experience in community or organizational engagement preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description
- Serves as the community liaison for the Center related to new and ongoing community projects
- Coordinates, writes and submits in a timely manner any progress reports required as well as the renewal application for the endowment funding
- Facilitate the meetings of the community advisory boards operated under the auspices of the Center.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the activities of the LACaTS Community Engagement and Outreach Resource (CEOR) Core.
- Work collaboratively with representatives from government agencies, community organizations, and businesses in mitigating health disparities and improving health outcomes in Louisiana.
- Serve as the liaison between the Center and the Community in establishing and maintaining trusted bi-directional relationship with community.
- Maintain accessible and complete records regarding resources, key contacts, evaluation data, meetings, number of individuals reached, etc.
- Leads and coordinate aspects of various educational outreach events in the communities we serve.
