Xata is the modern Postgres platform that helps engineering teams ship faster with instant database branches, anonymized production-like data, and zero-downtime schema changes.

We connect directly to your existing Postgres, whether it’s RDS, Aurora, CloudSQL, Azure Database, or self-hosted and bring a realistic, production-like development workflow to every pull request.

We’re a Series A, fully remote team across Europe and the US (around 25 people). Our customers use Xata to eliminate staging pain, speed up development, and make Postgres scalable for AI-era applications.

We’re now looking for a Head of Growth to accelerate our PLG motion and build a scalable, data-driven growth engine.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a hands-on, data-driven Head of Growth who will own and accelerate our PLG motion, from acquisition through activation, retention and monetisation. This role will partner deeply with Product, Engineering and our GTM Engineer, and require direct execution at the funnel level. You’ll be instrumental in scaling Xata’s reach into developer, platform and AI-infra teams.

What You’ll Do

Growth & Funnel Ownership

  • Own the full self-serve funnel: acquisition → activation → conversion → retention → expansion.
  • Define, run, and analyze growth experiments across product, website, docs, templates, onboarding, and lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product & Engineering to remove friction, improve time-to-value, and increase depth of usage.

Awareness & Distribution

  • Organize and execute campaigns to drive awareness across developer and platform engineering communities.
  • Plan and run events, workshops, webinars, meetups, and partnerships to increase visibility and adoption.
  • Develop and optimize acquisition channels (SEO, docs, templates, tutorials, integrations, community).
  • Coordinate with our GTM Engineer to ship growth assets: demos, templates, integrations, examples, and workflows.

Lifecycle & Monetization

  • Develop lifecycle messaging and in-product nudges that increase activation, retention, and usage.
  • Drive scalable distribution loops (framework integrations, GitHub, AI agent workflows, etc.).

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Drive the company-wide growth roadmap and partner with leadership on GTM evolution.
  • Influence product, design, engineering, and marketing through insights and experimentation results.

What you bring

Must-Haves

  • 3 years in Growth at a PLG SaaS, devtools, or infra company.
  • Strong analytical background (SQL or equivalent, funnels, experiments, dashboards).
  • Proven track record improving activation or self-serve revenue.
  • Comfortable working in technical product environments and with developer audiences.
  • High ownership, high velocity, and bias toward measurable impact.
  • Ability to collaborate deeply with product and engineering teams.
  • Organise periodically events with customers and potential. customers

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, or developer workflows.
  • Familiarity with GitHub ecosystems, AI dev tools, or data pipelines.
  • Previous experience pairing with a GTM Engineer or technical marketer.
