Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely acquisition of materials and services essential for manufacturing and operations. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and ERP systems to optimize purchasing strategies and support organizational goals.
Note: 4–5 years of experience in a medical device manufacturing environment, specifically in sourcing and procuring electrical or mechanical components.
Duties
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with category management principles to identify the best suppliers and optimize costs.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal regulations such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Manage procurement activities using ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and contract management.
- Conduct root cause analysis on supply chain disruptions or quality issues to implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, quality management, and production planning teams to coordinate materials availability and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance through supplier management programs, ensuring adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to inform sourcing decisions.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Support logistics planning and materials management activities to streamline supply chain operations.
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement management within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, sourcing strategies, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with MRP systems, production planning, and supply chain processes.
- Experience working with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to analyze data for root cause analysis and cost optimization.
- Background in category management, logistics, pricing strategies, quality management, and materials management is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in manufacturing environments involving procurement of raw materials or components is preferred.
