Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, quoting, negotiating, and placing purchase orders for a diverse range of commodities used in the manufacture of medical devices. This role works closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure materials meet regulatory, quality, and technical requirements while supporting on-time production and continuous improvement efforts. New graduates with relevant education or internships are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, quote, negotiate, and issue purchase orders for commodities including custom machined parts, cable and wire harnesses, PCBs, box builds, and precision subassemblies.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with applicable regulatory and quality standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for non-conforming materials.
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to resolve material issues, support builds, and maintain smooth production flow.
- Utilize ERP systems and Salesforce for purchasing activities, documentation, and communication.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and updates to support compliance and internal audit requirements.
- Track delivery schedules, manage supplier communication, and escalate delays as needed.
- Perform basic cost analysis and participate in cost-improvement initiatives.
- Support qualification of new suppliers as needed.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing and inventory-related reports using Excel.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- New graduates are welcome; internship or manufacturing exposure is a plus.
- Experience in a manufacturing or medical device environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, or other quality management systems is preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Salesforce.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, spreadsheets).
Bonus Qualifications
- Bilingual in Mandarin.
- Familiarity with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
