Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Fleet & Yard Manager to oversee daily yard operations, fleet readiness, equipment logistics, and inventory control. This role ensures our crews have the tools, vehicles, and equipment they need to operate safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily yard operations, equipment staging, and material organization
- Manage fleet scheduling, dispatch, and equipment allocation to jobsites
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, attachments, small equipment, and parts
- Coordinate inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules
- Work closely with Field Operations, Shop, and Project Management teams
- Track equipment usage, downtime, and cost allocations
- Ensure DOT, safety, and compliance standards are followed
- Lead and supervise yard and equipment support staff
- Manage vendor relationships for fuel, rentals, parts, and repairs
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe yard environment
- Support mobilization/demobilization of projects and equipment transfers
Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience in construction, fleet, yard, or equipment management
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and small tools
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred
- Familiarity with maintenance scheduling and equipment tracking systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic field environment
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience with telematics / fleet tracking systems (e.g., Samsara, GPS)
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA requirements
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- Excel proficiency for logs, tracking, reporting, and basic analysis
- Negotiation and vendor relationship management skills
- Budget and forecast management experience for fleet and equipment operations
