Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. • Prepares equipment and room for transportation of patient.
• Assists with the transfer of patients utilizing wheelchairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing, departments, clinic areas and vehicles in a safe, courteous and timely manner.
• Transports patients utilizing wheel chairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing departments, clinic areas and vehicles in a safe, courteous and timely manner.
• Transfers oxygen tanks from storage area to transport devises (wheelchairs, cart and bed).
• Provides scheduled designated services for Radiology, Fast Track, Emergency Department and other areas as directed. Never disconnects oxygen or monitoring equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness of carts, wheelchairs and work area with wipes provided.
• Attends CPR class annually for infants, children and adults.
• Addresses problems which occur during the regular performance of duties with Director, Manager and or Nurses.
• Completes additional duties as assigned by Director.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served. (Neonatal 0-11 months, Pediatric 1-12 years, Adolescent 13-17 years, Adult 18-64 years, Geriatric 80 years) 5
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development.
• Assesses information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient.
• Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provides appropriate care based on their age specifics needs.
• Provides and gives professional, cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, telephone callers, medical/dental staff, and fellow employees, while maintaining confidentiality of patient, employee and hospital information at all times.
• Oxygen and monitoring equipment issues are to be addressed by the Nurses, never the transport staff.
• Performs proper tracking/logging in the directed computer systems and communicates pertinent patient information to technologists.
• Each employee has a fundamental responsibility to safeguard patients' rights and demonstrate respect for such patient needs as confidentiality, privacy, security, complaint resolution, spiritual counseling, and communication.
• Attends in-services and other educational programs as required.

• Must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Visual acuity must be within normal ranges.
• Must be able to position, lift, move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
• Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shift.
