Sports Writer – WV News

The Role:
The Exponent Telegram in Clarksburg, West Virginia, is seeking a full-time Sports Reporter to join our newsroom and deliver compelling, high-impact coverage of local and regional sports.

This role will focus on storytelling across digital, video, and print platforms, bringing readers closer to the region's athletes, teams, and moments. This position is ideal for a passionate journalist who thrives on deadlines, loves connecting with communities through sports, and is excited to experiment with multimedia storytelling. This role will help shape sports coverage for a loyal and engaged audience while contributing to the broader mission of delivering impactful, locally focused journalism.

What We’re Looking For:
A writer who can write a clean lede on a deadline, take a photo of the action, and record a highlight clip for social media.

A writer who is proficient in AP Style but can also write with personality.

While not required, experience with InDesign and content management systems is a plus.

You must have a valid driver’s license.
