Position Summary
The Lumber Product Sales Specialist is responsible for growing sales and profitability within an established portfolio of retail lumber yard accounts. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships, expanding product penetration, introducing new product lines, and identifying opportunities to increase stocking inventory across assigned accounts.

Role: Lumber Product Sales Specialist

Position Summary

What You'll Do
- Manage and grow existing retail lumber yard accounts throughout the assigned territory.
- Promote and sell lumber, sheet goods, siding, outdoor living products, and related building materials.
- Identify opportunities to increase customer inventory commitments and expand product offerings.
- Conduct regular in-person sales calls with customer stakeholders including:
- Sales Representatives
- Sales Coordinators
- Purchasing Managers
- Branch Managers
- Present new products, programs, and promotional opportunities to customers.
- Participate in contractor events, customer demonstrations, and industry functions.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Inside Sales, and other internal teams to deliver exceptional customer support.
- Develop territory growth strategies that drive both sales volume and margin performance.
- Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, and customer trends.
- Maintain accurate account activity and sales reporting.
First 30 Days
- Complete product, pricing, and systems training.
- Learn company processes and territory structure.
- Shadow Inside Sales, Warehouse Operations, Drivers, and Sales Representatives.
- Conduct customer visits and begin developing account relationships.
- Support sales efforts with increasing levels of independent order attainment.
- Independently manage customer relationships.
- Execute territory growth initiatives.
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned accounts and sales objectives.
- 3 years of sales, account management, building products, lumber, millwork, distribution, or related industry experience.
- Experience calling on retail lumber yards, dealers, building material suppliers, or contractor-focused customers.
- Strong sales professionals from adjacent industries with a demonstrated track record of customer relationship management and business development.
- Competitive mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of resiliency and persistence.
- Ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Base salary: $55,000.00
- Uncapped commission opportunity
- Estimated gross pretax annual earnings (base commission) $70k to $80k
- Note: This range is an approximation and could vary based on performance
