Wurster Betterground, LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Construction Equipment Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy construction equipment in support of excavation, grading, site preparation, material handling, and other construction activities.
Equipment may include excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, crawler tractors, trench excavators, and other heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate heavy construction equipment in accordance with Company and jobsite safety requirements.
- Perform excavation, grading, material handling, site preparation, and related construction activities.
- Load, move, grade, excavate, and place dirt, rock, and other construction materials.
- Accurately judge grades, slopes, distances, clearances, and equipment positioning.
- Coordinate equipment movements with ground personnel and other operators.
- Conduct required pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Identify and avoid jobsite hazards, including utilities, personnel, equipment, and changing site conditions.
- Assist with general jobsite activities as needed.
- Follow all Company safety policies and PPE requirements.
This is a field-based, outdoor position requiring out-of-town travel Monday through Friday as needed.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of heavy construction equipment operating experience preferred.
- Experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete Company equipment operator qualification testing/observation.
- Strong understanding of construction-site and equipment safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with supervisors and crew members.
- Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in an active construction environment.
- Must meet Company drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements.
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 80 pounds, with assistance or appropriate material-handling methods when necessary.
- Safely enter and exit heavy construction equipment.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in dusty, muddy, noisy, and active construction environments.
- Must be available for out-of-town travel Monday through Friday, as needed. Per diem is provided in accordance with Company policy when applicable.
- Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and meet Company driving and insurance eligibility requirements.
