Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to the supervisor.
- Safely load and unload materials and equipment as required.
- Excavate, grade, and compact earth to prepare sites for construction.
- Assist with site cleanup and debris removal as needed.
- Follow project plans and blueprints to ensure accurate and precise work.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate work activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator OR entry-level with desire to learn construction trade.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair procedures for heavy equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training from a recognized heavy equipment operator program.
- Experience working in construction or related industries.
- Additional certifications such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety training.
- Familiarity with GPS and other advanced equipment technologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel frequently.
- Ability to work in tight spaces and at heights.
