MIG Welder Job Description
Overview:
Jet Machine is seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team of dedicated professionals. In this role, you'll contribute to the fabrication and repair of high-quality metal components while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. If you have a strong background in welding techniques, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to excellence, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
As a MIG Welder at Jet Machine, you will:
- Weld metal components according to blueprints, schematics, and company procedures.
- Prepare weld joints by grinding, cleaning, and other necessary tasks.
- Cut materials to size using cut-off saws when required.
- Determine proper welding methods and adjust welder controls following company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Repair machined parts (e.g., plugging holes) with prior approval from authorized personnel.
- Inspect welds for quality and perform post-weld operations, such as heating to correct warping.
- Document all work in the ERP system and ensure parts proceed to the next production step.
- Notify the Weld Lead of any issues or potential process improvements.
- Follow all safety procedures during welding operations, including startup and shutdown protocols.
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the workspace organized and clean.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math and blueprint reading skills, including familiarity with standard welding symbols.
- Proficiency in GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW welding techniques.
- Certifications in D1.1 and D1.2 welding standards.
- Knowledge of Oxy-Fuel cutting/heating equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ability to weld stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel (up to 2 inches thick).
- At least 5 years of welding experience (required).
- Possession of basic hand tools (preferred).
- Must pass a company-administered welding certification test.
