MIG Welder Job Description

Overview:
Jet Machine is seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team of dedicated professionals. In this role, you'll contribute to the fabrication and repair of high-quality metal components while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
As a MIG Welder at Jet Machine, you will:

• Weld metal components according to blueprints, schematics, and company procedures.
• Prepare weld joints by grinding, cleaning, and other necessary tasks.
• Cut materials to size using cut-off saws when required.
• Determine proper welding methods and adjust welder controls following company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Repair machined parts (e.g., plugging holes) with prior approval from authorized personnel.
• Inspect welds for quality and perform post-weld operations, such as heating to correct warping.
• Document all work in the ERP system and ensure parts proceed to the next production step.
• Notify the Weld Lead of any issues or potential process improvements.
• Follow all safety procedures during welding operations, including startup and shutdown protocols.
• Maintain welding equipment and keep the workspace organized and clean.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math and blueprint reading skills, including familiarity with standard welding symbols.
• Proficiency in GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW welding techniques.
• Certifications in D1.1 and D1.2 welding standards.
• Knowledge of Oxy-Fuel cutting/heating equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Ability to weld stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel (up to 2 inches thick).
• At least 5 years of welding experience (required).
• Possession of basic hand tools (preferred).
• Must pass a company-administered welding certification test.
