This Opportunity

WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Hydrogeologist in our Portland, Maine office. Join our Earth & Environment Team and contribute to projects that help clients achieve their objectives and address complex challenges.

In this role, the Senior Hydrogeologist will provide senior-level technical support and guidance for collecting, identifying, compiling, and analyzing data from soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor, and other environmental media. This position will also plan and execute subsurface and environmental investigations. The successful candidate will support project leadership with environmental site assessments and corrective action strategies for treatment, disposal, and/or onsite remediation, while ensuring work is delivered at a quality level that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Guide data collection efforts to extract, identify, and compile environmental data from soil, soil vapor, groundwater, boring logs, and other site investigation sources.
  • Provide senior technical support for site investigation programs, ongoing monitoring, and remedial system optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, records, and retention.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that communicate research, findings, and conceptual site models to support remedial decisions or actions.
  • Prepare and present complex data sets and visualizations for clients and other stakeholders.
  • Engage confidently and professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Make responsible, ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and comply with WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as business needs require.
     

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Experience with subsurface drilling methods, including direct-push, hollow-stem auger, sonic, and other exploratory field techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and professionally to scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Demonstrated self-leadership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members while maintaining strict QA/QC standards.
  • High proficiency with technical writing, office automation, communication software, technology, and related tools.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and ability to comply with WSP's health, safety, and harassment policies.
  • Travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional licensure (i.e. PG, LG).
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health and Safety Training (HAZWOPER).

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $103,000 - $153,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
