About Your Role...
We are looking to grow our Inclusive Design team and are inviting applications from Inclusive Design Consultants across a range of experience levels. We are open to shaping the role around the right person, from consultant through to more senior appointments.
This role can be based from any of our UK offices, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available.
You will be working within WSP's Inclusive Design team - a collaborative team working with a wide range of local authority & private sector clients from across the UK to help them achieve their inclusive ambitions in creating spaces and solutions for diverse populations. You will take the lead on delivering a wide range projects at all project stages – you will work across the UK, working with colleagues across transport planning, design, placemaking, engagement and more.
The role will involve research activities, delivering focus groups, undertaking inclusion assessments, policy and strategy as well as input to engineering solutions. We believe inclusive environments are best shaped by a diverse coalition of voices, and we’re looking for someone who is open-minded, curious, and committed to meaningful change.

Your Responsibilities, Depending On Grade, Will Include...
- Working directly with clients to help define and deliver their inclusive design ambitions
- Leading or contributing to projects across research, strategy, policy and delivery stages
- Undertaking inclusive design assessments and applying a broad equity lens to projects
- Supporting and delivering engagement activities, including research and focus groups
- Managing projects, budgets and programmes of work (where appropriate)
- Preparing, reviewing and checking technical outputs and reports
- Collaborating with colleagues across WSP’s transport, planning, design and engagement teams
- Staying up to date with industry best practice and emerging thinking in inclusive design
- Contributing to business development, work winning and the growth of our Inclusive Design offer
- Mentoring and supporting the development of colleagues (for more senior roles)

- A background in transport, social research, behavioural science or human factors, however, we are keen to explore all backgrounds and experience
- Experience of inclusive design principles and the ability to apply them in practice
- Proven ability to successfully deliver projects
- Proven track record in project management and financial control
- Responsibility for business development and work winning
- Passion for mentoring and developing talent
- Ability to apply a broad equity lens
- Excellent ability to engage with stakeholders including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues.
