Job Overview
This position is responsible for managing the financial activities of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations. This role involves budgeting, financial reporting, bookkeeping, analysis, and supporting management and financial decision‑making.
This is a permanent, part-time position (approximately 8-10 hours per week) based at our office with some ability to work remotely depending on organizational scheduling and needs. Attendance at meetings outside of normal business office hours is required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounts.
Monitor income, expenditures, and cash flow.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Oversee financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop and monitor annual budgets.
Prepare budget variance reports and financial forecasts.
Provide financial insights to support strategic planning.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Review and process invoices, payments, and reimbursements.
Ensure timely collection of receivables.
Reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions.
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and tax laws.
Maintain internal financial controls and risk‑management procedures.
Prepare and file statutory financial reports (e.g., tax returns).
Payroll & Benefits
Process payroll and maintain payroll records.
Ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes and employee benefits.
Financial Analysis
Conduct cost analyses and financial reviews.
Support management with data-driven insights for decision‑making.
Recommend improvements to financial processes and systems.
Other Duties as Assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial regulations.
Minimum five (5) years of proven accounting and accounting software experience.
Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and audit compliance with GASB and FASB.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and integrity.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet organization needs.
Proficiency with Microsoft suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior accounting experience in a governmental or municipal environment.
4 year college degree in business, accounting, or related field, or CPA certification.
Experience with Quickbooks Online.
