PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: Ensure shop personnel produce a quality product in a safe, efficient manner to meet scheduled ship dates. Protect property and ensure employees adhere to all company policies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Function
1) Exercise direct supervision over Press Room employees with respect to volume, quality of production, schedules and delivery dates.
2) Documents both positive and negative employee incidents; disciplines when necessary and praises employee for a job well done.
3) Schedules jobs in to production and assigns work.
4) Work with Lead and Set-Up personnel on daily Production Plan to ensure all is accomplished.
5) Monitors all jobs running in production, promptly address and solve problems affecting production.
6) Promote safe work habits, ensure Press Operators are working safely and perform safety checks.
7) Instruct operators on proper way to run parts, what to watch for and how to avoid making future mistakes. Train all Press Operators on new skills.
8) Record-keeping/Paperwork: Vacation Slips, Injury Reports, "Hot Jobs" Report, Press Key Control and distribution of paychecks.
9) Recommend pay increases to Plant Superintendent for qualified employees.
1 0) Promptly handle all employee conflicts, concerns and questions.
11) Make employment decisions with assistance from Plant Superintendent, Human Resources, General Manager and Corporate personnel.
1 2) Other duties as assigned in order to ensure Shop goals are met.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent, strong Shop Math skills.
Experience: Experience with inspection/measurement devices required, strong production experience, Punch Press Operation and Set-Up preferred along with minimum of two-year supervisory experience.
Skills/Aptitude: Effective time management and delegation skills, proficient blueprint reading, high mechanical aptitude effective communication skills with peers, management and employees. Team Player; works with others to solve problems and assist when needed.
Working conditions: Metal stamping shop environment (noise; dirty; Possible evening and weekend work). Must wear safety protection (PPE), fast-paced, job shop environment.
Level: Works under minimal supervision, exercises large degree of discretion and independent judgment. Works under the pressure of deadlines.
