POSITION SUMMARY
Wound Kinetics is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) — either a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) — to join our dedicated wound care team. The APP will provide comprehensive, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds across a variety of clinical and long-term care settings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Wound Management
• Conduct comprehensive wound assessments including wound type, etiology, size, tissue quality, exudate, periwound condition, and signs of infection
• Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and complex wounds including but not limited to: diabetic foot ulcers, venous/arterial leg ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized wound care treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines
• Perform wound debridement (sharp, mechanical, enzymatic, and/or autolytic) within scope of practice
• Select, apply, and manage advanced wound care dressings, biologics, skin substitutes, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and other specialized modalities
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies including labs, imaging, vascular studies, and wound cultures as clinically indicated
• Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies including antibiotics, offloading devices, compression therapy, and nutritional support
• Recognize and manage wound-related complications including osteomyelitis, critical limb ischemia, cellulitis, and sepsis — initiating appropriate referrals or escalation
Patient & Family Education
• Provide thorough education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding wound etiology, prevention, self-care, and expected outcomes
• Counsel patients on risk factor modification including diabetes management, nutrition optimization, smoking cessation, and pressure relief strategies
• Set realistic goals and expectations while promoting patient empowerment and engagement in the healing process
Collaboration & Care Coordination
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, vascular specialists, physical/occupational therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure holistic, coordinated care
• Communicate effectively with referring providers, care teams, and payers regarding wound status, treatment plans, and progress
• Participate in interdisciplinary wound care conferences and case reviews
• Coordinate transitions of care including hospital discharge planning, home health referrals, and skilled nursing facility wound management
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) consistent with regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements
• Ensure documentation supports appropriate wound care coding, billing, and reimbursement (ICD-10, CPT)
• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines for wound care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcome tracking, and performance metrics related to wound healing rates, recurrence, amputation prevention, and patient satisfaction
Practice Development
• Remain current with advances in wound care science, products, and technology through ongoing continuing education and professional development
• Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical protocols, care pathways, and best practice guidelines
• Participate in staff education, mentorship, and training as applicable
• Support marketing and outreach efforts by serving as a clinical resource and liaison to referral sources
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensure
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Current, unrestricted PA or NP licensure in the applicable state(s) of practice
• Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
• BLS/ACLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Eligible for or currently holds prescriptive authority
Experience
• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical APP experience; wound care experience strongly preferred
• Experience with wound debridement, NPWT, compression therapy, and advanced dressing selection
• Familiarity with wound care in multiple settings (outpatient clinic, SNF, home health, hospital) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
• Strong clinical knowledge of wound etiology, pathophysiology, and healing principles
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR); experience with wound care-specific EMR systems a plus
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Wound care certification: CWS (Certified Wound Specialist), WCC (Wound Care Certified), CWOCN, or CWSP
• Experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) and/or lymphedema management
• Familiarity with CMS Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) for wound care products and services
• Experience with biologics, cellular and/or tissue-based products (CTPs), and skin substitutes
• Bilingual skills are a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to:
• Stand, walk, and move for extended periods in clinical environments
• Bend, kneel, and reach to assess and treat patients in a variety of positions
• Lift and/or assist patients weighing up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Perform fine motor tasks including wound debridement and dressing application
• Travel to multiple clinical sites as required (valid driver's license may be required)
Salary : $60 - $90
