Project Manager

Worthington Products Inc.
Canton, OH Full Time
POSTED ON 9/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/13/2026

Worthington Products, Inc. — Canton, Ohio (on-site) $95,000 – $112,000/year, plus 401(k) match, health insurance, and paid time off

Worthington Products is a small business located in East Canton, Ohio. We design and supply floating barrier systems used at dams, hydropower plants, reservoirs, and other waterway facilities.

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented person to support our office, sales, and customer follow-up activities.

This is a hands-on office role. The right person will be comfortable answering phones, entering orders, helping prepare quotes, maintaining customer records, running reports, creating spreadsheets, and following up on open items.

This is also a small-business office environment. We are busy, and priorities can shift during the day. The right person will be organized enough to keep track of their work, flexible enough to adjust when needed, and comfortable asking questions when something is unclear.

This position requires accuracy, organization, clear communication, and a willingness to help where needed.

This is a fully onsite role located in East Canton, Ohio. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to commute to the office.

The role:

You'll manage 5 to 18 active projects at any given time, ranging from straightforward orders to multi-site installations overseas.

You own the outcome on every one of them: scope, schedule, margin, risk, and the customer relationship after award.

You are not doing all the work. You have a Project Coordinator handling RFIs, documentation, submittals, and follow-up. You have Engineering handling design and calculations. You have Sales Support behind you. Installation is performed by contractors, not by you.

Your job is to run the plan, make the calls, protect the margin, and keep commitments honest.

What you'll actually do

    •    Lead project kickoff and set the execution basis — who owns what, by when

    •    Build one integrated plan per project, sized to the project

    •    Serve as the customer's primary point of contact after award

    •    Track the original promise date against the current forecast, and be straight about the difference

    •    Identify risk early and escalate it while options still exist

    •    Control changes — nothing unpriced or unauthorized gets built

    •    Protect quoted margin and manage billing milestones and cash timing

    •    Keep shipment and installation tracking to plan — your coordinator, purchasing, and sales support monitor the schedules and bring you what you need to decide or escalate

    •    Close projects out properly: acceptance, final billing, punch list, warranty, lessons learned

Who does well here

The best person in this seat sees the whole project and the small pieces at the same time. They're organized enough that fifteen active projects feels the same as three. They're high-energy, and they'd rather make a decision than schedule another meeting about it.

Most of all, they communicate well — with customers, vendors, engineers, and the shop floor.

That last one is not filler. This role lives or dies on communication. We need someone who builds agreement rather than wins arguments. If your instinct in a tough conversation is to find the outcome everyone can live with, you'll do well here. If it's to prove you were right, you won't.

What you need:

    •    5 years managing projects in construction, infrastructure, or capital equipment

    •    Enough technical competence to hold your own with engineers and contractors — you do not need to be an engineer

    •    A track record of running multiple concurrent projects without losing the thread

    •    Working knowledge of contract terms, change orders, and margin management — you can read a contract, recognize the moment scope starts drifting outside it, and act on it before it costs us money

    •    Comfort owning a customer relationship and delivering bad news early

    •    Ability to work on-site in Canton, Ohio

Helpful, but not required

    •    Exposure to dams, hydroelectric facilities, or water infrastructure

    •    Experience with international projects, and an understanding of the nuances of international logistics

Travel:

This is an on-site position in Canton. Travel is light and mostly optional — occasional site visits for kickoff meetings, customer relationships, or to deepen your understanding of the work. If you're a project manager who's tired of living out of a truck, this may be the role you've been looking for.

Compensation and benefits:

    •    $95,000 – $112,000 per year, depending on experience

    •    401(k) with company match

    •    Health insurance

    •    Paid time off

Worthington Products, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.

    •    401(k)

    •    Flexible spending account

    •    Health insurance

    •    Health savings account

    •    Paid time off
