Position Overview
Worldpac is seeking a Data Analyst to support enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics by delivering insights, dashboards, and AI-enabled reporting experiences built on trusted, curated data. This role focuses on interpreting data, developing semantic models, defining metrics, and enabling data-driven decision making across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions.
The Data Analyst partners closely with Data Engineers, data platform teams, and business stakeholders to ensure analytics built in Power BI and Snowflake are accurate, consistent, scalable, and consumable. This role emphasizes semantic modeling, KPI definition, and intelligent analytics, including the responsible use of AI capabilities to enhance insight discovery and decision support in a large-scale, high-volume distribution environment
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Insight Generation
- Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies that drive operational and strategic decision making.
- Translate business questions into analytical approaches and clearly interpret results for non-technical audiences.
- Support ad hoc analysis, root-cause investigations, and deep dives for leadership and functional teams.
- Ensure analytical output focuses on business impact and actionable insights not just data presentation.
Semantic Models, KPIs & Metrics
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI semantic models that serve as the foundation for enterprise reporting and self-service analytics.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, hierarchies, and calculation logic aligned to business processes.
- Ensure metric consistency and reuse across dashboards, reports, and executive scorecards.
- Document semantic models, metric definitions, assumptions, and business rules to support transparency and trust.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure semantic models align with curated Snowflake data assets.
Dashboards, Reporting & Visualization
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visual analytics using Power BI and Excel.
- Apply data visualization best practices to communicate insights clearly and effectively to executives and operational teams.
- Optimize report performance and usability by leveraging well-designed semantic models and efficient queries.
- Support and guide business users in interpreting reports and using self-service analytics responsibly.
AI-Enabled BI & Advanced Analytics
- Leverage AI capabilities within BI tools (e.g., Power BI Copilot, AI visuals, natural language queries, automated insights) to enhance analysis and reporting.
- Identify opportunities where AI-assisted analytics can accelerate insight discovery, anomaly detection, and trend analysis.
- Partner with analytics and data teams to responsibly experiment with AI-driven features while maintaining metric governance and data accuracy.
- Stay current with emerging AI trends in BI and analytics and apply them where they create clear business value.
Data Access, Validation & Snowflake Usage
- Query and analyze data in Snowflake using SQL to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Validate data accuracy, reconcile results, and perform quality checks on analytical datasets and reports.
- Understand data lineage and transformations to appropriately interpret and explain results.
- Surface data quality issues and collaborate with Data Engineers and data platform teams on remediation.
Collaboration & BI Enablement
- Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, Data Engineers, and IT to ensure analytics needs are clearly defined and delivered.
- Provide feedback on dataset design, semantic layers, and data availability to improve BI usability.
- Participate in agile analytics delivery processes, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Promote consistent use of enterprise BI standards, metrics, and reporting practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar analytics-focused role.
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience querying cloud data warehouses (Snowflake strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated advanced/expert level experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI, including use of semantic models and Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience defining and validating KPIs and business metrics.
- Solid understanding of descriptive and basic inferential statistics for business analysis.
- Advanced Excel for analysis and modeling.
- Understanding data governance, metric standardization, and data quality concepts.
- Experience working in agile analytics or BI environments using Jira and Confluence, ServiceNow and/or similar tools.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Power BI semantic models (datasets, relationships, measures).
- Experience leveraging AI capabilities in BI tools for insight generation and reporting enhancement.
- Familiarity with Snowflake data structures, performance considerations, and analytical querying patterns.
- Basic familiarity with Python or R for analytical tasks or automation.
- Experience accessing data and using/editing queries on the IBM i (iSeries) leveraging ODBC, Showcase Queries, DB2, etc.
- Business experience in distribution, supply chain, operations, or finance analytics.
Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
