SBA Credit Manager

Job Summary Overview
The position is responsible for managing underwriting for SBA and other government guaranteed loans.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for oversight of financial analysis and completion of loan presentations for appropriate SBA policy and procedure and underwriting standards.
- Coordinates with CCO and SVP of commercial lending to prioritize underwriting to meet all anticipated funding dates.
- Assists commercial underwriting team in preparation of commercial loan presentations.
- Recommends loans for approval to those with appropriate approval authority or Member Business Loan Committee.
- Understands SBA and Government Guaranteed guidelines and ensures appropriate analysis is completed.
- Provides ongoing training and mentoring for SBA Underwriters and Credit Analysts associated with government guaranteed underwriting.
- Assists CCO in providing credit education throughout the organization.
- Maintains and recommends updates for SBA loan process and underwriting standards.
- Provides oversight and input regarding loan structure and terms and conditions.
- Actively participates in preflight discussions for new loan opportunities.
- Maintains strong knowledge of credit policy and procedure and recommend changes based upon applicable rules and regulations.
- Conducts ongoing desk reviews of recently funded loans to ensure adherence to SBA SOP and appropriate credit underwriting standards.
- Reviews title, documentation, legal entity docs or other information, as needed, to help mitigate risk.
- Works closely with Appraisal Manager to ensure appraisal/environmental reports are appropriate.
- Assists with construction draws by coordinating with Construction Loan Manager.
- Responsible for all aspects of Secondary Market loan sale packages.
- Points of Contact for on-site and remote audits including completion of management response to audit findings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience
Five-seven (5-7) years of experience underwriting commercial loans and three (3) years’ experience in SBA underwriting required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of SBA and USDA policies and regulations. Loan Documentation experience required. Ability to interpret financial statements, tax returns and projections. Two (2) years supervisory experience in a financial institution required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Officer and Microsoft Excel. In-depth knowledge of commercial lending compliance and credit regulations. Professional written, verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to produce quality work within tight time frames while managing multiple assignments. Ability to work on core processing systems and department specific processing systems. Strong work ethic, the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines, advanced interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and the desire to work as a team to support the overall success of the credit union. Strong knowledge base about commercial real estate and conventional underwriting, policies, and procedures.
Compensation:
The annual compensation is between $90K - $100K. There is a discretionary bonus based on the financial institutions profitability.
