The World Bank’s Information Technology Solutions (ITS) department has an immediate need for a senior systems engineer to help build and streamline integration of the World Bank Group’s internal solutions and Adobe Ecosystem, including Analytics, Email Marketing, and Adobe Experience Manager. The selected candidate will work with the various technical team members to develop scalable solutions which can support WBG communications goals and digital transaction needs.
Duties:
•Lead full-stack design and development of modern web applications for the ECR Intranet client, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
•Architect, provision, and optimize cloud resources across AWS and Azure (e.g., Amazon SES, Azure databases, storage, compute) to support enterprise-grade workloads and workflows.
•Define and implement governance features, role-based access, and approval workflows that streamline content publishing and align with enterprise transformation objectives.
•Integrate and operationalize analytics platforms (e.g., Adobe Analytics) across SharePoint and other applications to deliver actionable insights on user engagement and content performance.
•Own the end-to-end newsletter platform integration for internal and external hubs, including provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of 350 newsletters.
•Design and implement data-driven solutions to improve audience retention and communications effectiveness, including dashboards, admin portals for metrics, and reporting pipelines.
•Build and manage transactional email systems using Amazon SES, including anti-spam workflows, bounce/complaint handling, deliverability tuning, and domain reputation management.
•Ensure adherence to accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design practices across intranet components, templates, and reusable assets.
•Develop reusable, scalable UI/UX components and shared libraries that improve developer velocity and consistency across ECR intranet products.
•Collaborate with product owners, communications leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business processes into robust technical designs and implementation plans.
•Establish CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability (logging, monitoring, alerting) to ensure reliability, rapid deployment, and continuous improvement.
•Conduct performance profiling and optimization across front-end and back-end services; resolve production issues and manage incident response and root cause analysis.
•Maintain security and compliance best practices (identity and access management, data protection, auditability) across cloud and application layers.
•Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering standards and documentation quality.
•Manage and prioritize support requests and backlog items; drive timely resolution and communicate status and insights to stakeholders (e.g., 250 ticket environments).
•Partner with enterprise teams to align intranet modernization efforts with broader organizational architecture, content governance, and knowledge management strategies.
