JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring comprehensive regulatory and legal compliance with FDA, CFR, USDA, and applicable state regulations for the products we sell. This role encompasses full oversight of U.S. compliance requirements across product development, manufacturing, quality, and export readiness. A key responsibility is ensuring that any products produced abroad for our Brand meet all U.S. federal and state standards prior to export.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide end-to-end oversight of U.S. regulatory compliance for all products, ensuring alignment with FDA, CFR, USDA, and state-level requirements across formulation, production, packaging, and documentation.
- Support all Brand projects to ensure successful and compliant U.S. launches by offering regulatory direction from concept through commercialization by collaborating as a key member of cross-functional project teams including R&D, Quality, Marketing, Supply Chain, and international Manufacturing.
- Stay informed on regulatory trends, emerging standards, and industry developments to keep the company ahead of potential risks and opportunities.
- Deliver clear, timely regulatory guidance—identifying required changes, explaining regulatory rationale, and recommending compliant solutions that align with product and business goals.
- Liaison with factories but also US customers/food service/brokers, guiding them through compliance expectations, export requirements, and the standards necessary for access to the U.S. market.
- Review product labels to ensure US compliance which includes ingredient approvals, claims strategy(including BE and Prop 65), manufacturing requirements, and import expectations.
- Oversee the transition and maintenance of compliant packaging and product information, including managing FDA traceability, EPR, documentation tracking, and artwork archiving.
- Review and interpret results from lab when product testing is required
- Other tasks as assigned by manager
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related field required
- Ongoing connection with industry regulatory organizations to keep current on changes to regulatory issues (i.e. e-newsletters, website research, membership to organizations, etc.)
Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience in regulatory compliance in food manufacturing, etc.
