What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Teacher position at World Academy - NH?
World Academy is currently seeking an innovative middle school mathematics educator with experience teaching upper level students for the 26-27 school year (grades 6-8, with potential to teach accelerated math courses Algebra 1 and Geometry). Applicants must be able to instruct students, ensuring that each individual is provided with the knowledge, proficiencies, and experiences to become successful, contributing global citizens and mathematicians. Experience in standards-based and problem-based instruction and assessment is desired.
The ideal candidates should be leaders in the field with a focus on Mathematics. They will be responsible for providing instruction that enhances critical thinking skills, contributes to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences, and provides a safe learning environment. They must value diversity and respect for all.
Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree and possess (or be certifiable for) a valid NH or MA teacher certification (or from a state with recognized reciprocity for either) in Elementary Education K-8, Mathematics (5-8 or 5-12) or related advanced degree. New Hampshire Highly Qualified Teacher status, or its equivalent from another state, is a plus.
The breadth of experiences include, but are not limited to: the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with teachers, students, and parents; to provide excellent problem-based learning; to demonstrate knowledge of 21st century learning, educational techniques and methods; to adapt to students' individual learning styles; to create learning activities and curriculum with resources that correlate with instructional objectives; to effectively integrate appropriate technology and effectively integrate curricula with other disciplines, to provide proactive and positive behavior management techniques for students in order to assist them in demonstrating responsible behavior; to utilize homework as a tool for the reinforcement of classroom instruction; to supervise or assist with relevant field trips and extracurricular programs for the benefit of the students; and to perform related duties, as necessary.
