JOB PURPOSE:
The Direct Labor I role is responsible for performing various production tasks to ensure efficient and safe operations within the manufacturing environment. This role requires individuals to follow the production schedule, adhere to quality standards, and support various assembly and packaging functions. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced setting, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and operate a variety of tools and machinery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to and be ready to work at the scheduled start time on a consistent basis.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe work environment for self and team members.

Ability to accurately read a tape measure, caliper, and follow dimensional requirements as outlined in work orders.
- On the job training provided if necessary.
- Follow a production schedule to meet deadlines and achieve production goals.
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet company standards. Identify defects and resolve or report issues as needed.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Identify and distinguish between different wood types, such as maple, oak, and birch, and apply this knowledge to the production process.
- Participate in cross-training for various tasks to ensure flexibility in work assignments for meeting customers’ orders and delivering on time.
- Operate floor jacks, scissor lift table, and secondary machinery as required for the handling and movement of materials.
- Use the ERP system to perform basic tasks such as entering production data, tracking inventory, and adjusting within the system.
- Participate in 5S activities to maintain organized and clean workspaces. Engage in the principles of one-piece flow to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Actively participate in Kaizen events
- Working knowledge of computer systems.
- Basic blueprint reading skills
- Change basic machine parts that do not require special adjustments (e.g., drill bits, saw blades).
- Identify and distinguish between different cabinet parts
- Promote and support the Company's mission, vision, values, and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Standing for the working hours of each shift, 8 hours daily. Walking in the Production department to different areas of work. Speaking, hearing, seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools. Regularly lift 30-50 lbs. throughout shift. Team-lift as specified by leadership. Employees may perform tasks that require bending, twisting, and turning frequently.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor working environment, hot in Summer, temperature controlled in Winter. Moving machinery, i.e., forklifts, moveable carts, etc. Uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
