A small local construction company is growing and they are looking to fill a Pipe Layer/Laborer position. This position would assist with the installation of underground sanitary/storm/water pipeline, excavation, grading, residential underground utility installation, home site dig outs, and other assigned tasks to assist in project completion.
Minimum Requirements:
-Minimum 1 year experience as a pipe layer.
-Valid Oregon Driver License and insurable driving record.
-Proficiency with laser levels, pipe lasers, tape measures, levels and other hand tools to maintain required line and grade of pipe line.
-Ability to communicate effectively with the Foreman to identify project needs and concerns.
-Willingness to work overtime as needed for project success.
-Knowledge of trench safety, shoring and confined space practices.
Preferred Exp: (not required):
-Pipeline testing (air testing, mandrel testing, pressure testing, chlorination testing).
-Ability to read and understand Civil Construction Plans.
-Exp. running excavators and skid steers.
-Class A CDL with experience driving dump trucks.
-Exp. hauling trailers (gooseneck and bumper pull)
-Exp. in home dig outs and utility installation.
Job Duties:
-Install underground utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, and water according to plans and specifications.
-Assist with residential dig outs, foundation excavations, and site preparation.
-Set up and maintain pipe grade, and alignment using lasers, levels, grade rod and tape measures.
-Prepare trenches by grading, bedding and compacting pipe materials in the pipe zone.
-Safely enter and exit trenches in compliance with OSHA trench safety standards.
-Install pipe fittings, manholes, catch basins and other structures required for the project.
-Backfill trenches to the required compaction percentage as required by the jurisdiction.
-Work closely with equipment operators and maintain strong communication skills during excavation and backfill.
-Perform general labor duties to include shoveling, raking, grading and clean up.
-Assist with grading and site finish work for residential and civil infrastructure projects.
-Identify existing underground utilities by potholing prior to mechanical excavation.
-Maintain a clean and organized work space and job site.
-Follow all safety policies, job site rules and company policies and procedures.
-Operate hand tools, power tools and small equipment safely and efficiently.
-Assist foreman and supervisors with daily job tasks and project needs.
-Various other tasks to be assigned as needed for project success.
Employer Notes:
-Job sites are typically within 45 minutes to McMinnville. Work sites range from Sherwood to Albany, Occasional job sites located at the coast. Employees report directly to job sites.
Wages, Hours and Benefits:
-Full time, Mon - Fri, 7am - 4pm
-$25.00 - $35.00 DOE for starting wage.
-60 day probationary period.
-Full paid health for employees, family plans are available.
