About this position
This position reports to the Food Hub Manager. This position supervises 5-6 direct reports.
Our regular hours of operation are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Larger orders may require longer shifts or work on other days that may add up to a 40 hour work week. We aim to provide as much notice as possible as to when shifts will be scheduled, but currently our scheduling is based on orders that often come in with less than one week’s notice. Some of the work takes place in a refrigerated climate.

Roles/Responsibilities
- Support Management of Fresh-Cut Vegetable Program (50-60%):
- Processing Team Management:
- Oversee processing team (5-8 staff members) during all hours of operation
- Communicate schedules of work to processing staff in a timely and effective manner
- Conduct initial hiring interviews, and submit recommendations to food hub manager
- Train, direct, and support production staff to ensure product quality to ensure all finished product meets or exceeds customer standards
- Order Management:
- Coordinate with food hub manager on upcoming orders
- Assist in developing order timelines to ensure timely completion of all orders
- Purchase sufficient local product from reputable partner vendors to successfully complete orders
- Food Safety Plan Compliance:
- Ensure food safety policy is implemented on a daily basis
- Complete timely and accurate processing logs
- Complete shipping and receiving documentation
- Play a role on food safety planning team
- Assist in the annual food safety audit
- Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of processing facilities to align with food safety plan
- Oversee and participate in sanitation of facility, in compliance with SOPs
- Solve technical problems, and coordinate repairs and maintenance of machinery and facilities as needed
- Produce Box Program (20-30%):
- Assist in fulfillment of orders (sourcing, packing and distributing) from a variety of customers
- Participate in planning and strategy efforts around growing produce box program as requested
- General Food Hub and Organizational Responsibilities (20%):
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication with other team members
- Perform weekly inventory and help to lead weekly maintenance activities
- Procure and distribute produce using refrigerated van and truck
- Support related organizational programs, including prepared meals, farmer services and community education as requested
- Take responsibility for and demonstrate persistence and creativity in meeting goals
- Identify opportunities to improve food hub practices
Requirements
- Be excited about local food and regional food systems!
- Possess valid drivers license and can drive work van/truck
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience in food production, food safety, manufacturing or clean room
- One year experience as Supervisor or Team Lead
- Operate pallet jacks and possess or obtain forklift certificate within 60 days of employment
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 20-50 lb boxes and work in refrigerated environments
- Be responsible, forthright and reliable
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
