What are the responsibilities and job description for the OUr Chance County Resource Navigator position at Workforce Essentials Inc?
This position is based in Sumner County. It will cover both Sumner and Wilson Counties.
Purpose and Functions:
County Resource Navigator, Our Chance TN; Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM)
As a member of the Family Services Team for Workforce Essentials the County Resource Navigator will deliver services as a part of the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM). This position works directly with families to assess and address needs related to housing, transportation, child care, and overall health and well-being. Serving as the family’s primary advocate and resource, the County Resource Navigator builds strong, trust-based relationships and provides guidance, support, and connection to services that empower families to achieve greater economic stability and mobility.
General Responsibilities:
- Work on a one-on-one basis with families to create individual, customized plans to help overcome known barriers with gaining affordable and accessible housing, transportation, childcare, and health and well being supports.
- Create, update, and communicate a list of available and affordable county-level housing, transportation, childcare, and well being resources at least once per month.
- Regularly participate in Care Coordination sessions, helping build a team of support that surrounds each family and guides them towards their self-identified goals.
- Input family participation, progress, and assessments in TAEM’s data system, Salesforce. Use data to make informed decisions and improve family interactions and supports.
- Enter all applicable notes from the Caregiver meeting within 48 hours into Salesforce.
- Actively seek out and maintain meaningful relationships with known and prospective partners.
- Attend county-level working group to participate in preexisting or create new collaborative efforts to build awareness, capacity, and leverage greater resources toward affordable housing, transportation, childcare, and health and well-being.
- Communicate with Capacity Building Leads about any missed trainings, barriers, or opportunities to expand county-level resources.
- Host or attend events to recruit eligible caregivers in your assigned county.
- Attend and participate in: monthly Communities of Practice (COP) Meetings, Partner Meetings, and all other mandatory gatherings per the organization’s MOU.
- Attend Income Workshop and Salesforce training a minimum of one (1) time per year.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human or social services, education, or related field, with at least two years of experience working with families and young children.
- Nonprofit experience and training in trauma-informed care, family-centered coaching, conscious discipline, and ACES preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid, unrestricted driver’s license, a good driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance. Position requires some county-to-county travel; reimbursed at the state travel rate.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong management/organizational skills.
- Knowledge of inner-city human services needs and methods of delivery.
- Passion for working with people and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft computer programs and in related software programs and systems, including online information system is required.
- Working knowledge and experience in spreadsheet programs such as Excel preferred (to include creating and massaging data within a spreadsheet).
- Strong time management skills; uses time effectively; consistently meets deadlines.
- Must have good organizational and strong detail orientation skills.
- Will require good internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal or while traveling for extended periods of time is required.
- Must possess the ability to research, analyze and problem solve.
- Must be able to work independently, with moderate supervision.
- Must be performance and task driven.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
This is a salary, full time position based on a 37.5 hour work week. Hours of work are 8:00am until 4:30pm Monday through Friday. This position requires the flexibility to modify work schedule if needed to meet Our Chance TN family’s needs. Position is a hybrid schedule 3 days in office and 2 days remote after successful completion of 90 day introductory period. Hybrid schedule is subject to change based upon business needs. Flexibility is required based on program needs.
