What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bindery Supervisor position at WORC Solutions?
We are seeking a Bindery Supervisor who is also a hands-on operator. This Supervisor will work side-by-side with the team, assist with scheduling within the department, run equipment, troubleshoot machines, and ensure production stays on track. The ideal candidate is a skilled operator with strong leadership ability and a mechanical mindset who can train, coach, and motivate staff while also contributing directly to daily production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Bindery department as a working supervisor
- Assign jobs, schedule workflow, and operate equipment alongside the crew
- Ensure coverage for all shifts and communicate with other departments
- Set up and operate mailing and bindery machines for gathering, stitching (Duplo), folding (Baum), cutting (Polar), stapling, drilling, punching, padding, collating, inserting (Bell & Howell), addressing (Rena), sealing and binding materials.
- Load and feed paper stock and other supplies into machines.
- Examine finished products for defects.
- Package materials for shipping.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on bindery machines, including cleaning, adjusting and oiling.
- Receive, unpack and store incoming orders, checking against items listed on invoices.
- Perform local deliveries as needed.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2 years in a bindery or printing management role, with proven operator skills
