Job Summary
A hospitalist is a licensed physician who cares for hospitalized patients.
Reports To
Hospitalists report to the Chief Operating Officer of Bloomington Medical Services (BMS) for administrative oversight, and to the Medical Director(s) of BMS’s Hospitalist program for clinical oversight.
Requirements
MD or DO
Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Ohio medical license
U.S. Citizen, H1-B visa, or permanent residency
Essential duties
As inpatient physicians, hospitalists admit patients to the hospital; conduct physical examinations; provide diagnoses, evaluation and management services, and test result analysis; refer patients to medical/surgical specialists for specialized treatment as needed, and providevarious medical services and treatments as necessitated by individual patient circumstances.A hospitalist’s professional medical services include preparing admitting notes with an assessment and plan; review and completion of progress notes; performing procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and ventilator management; dictating discharge summaries,and attending medical conferences.
