FUNCTION: To inspire students by demonstrating belief in their students abilities and by providing the support students need to meet challenging academic demands. To align the School Library Program (SLP) with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school / school district. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Fosters a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning community Develops and maintains resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and instructional strategies of the school community Provides differentiated learning experiences that enable all students to make progress. Evaluates, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning Promotes the ethical use of information: copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property Collects and analyzes data to improve instruction; demonstrates correlations between the School Library Program and student achievement Develops well -structured lessons with challenging, measurable objectives and appropriate student engagement strategies. Designs and administers a variety of informal and formal assessments to measure each students growth toward local/state standards.Consults with classroom teachers to ensure two way communication with families about student performance and responds promptly and carefully to communication from families. Collaborates with colleagues to support improved student learning. Clearly communicates and consistently enforces specific standards for student work, effort and behavior. Uses rituals and routines that create and maintain a safe learning environment. Consistently uses practices that are likely to enable students to demonstrate respect for differences. Regularly reflects on his/her practice, individually and with colleagues. Consistently seeks outs and applies ideas for improving practice from supervisors, colleagues, and professional developmental activities to gain expertise.
